EXPERIENCE IN GERMAN IP & IT LAW

Since more than 20 years Dr. Waltemathe acts for national and international enterprises in relation to EU and German law. From 2001 to 2006 he worked as an attorney-at-law for the international law firm Lovells, now Hogan Lovells. In 2006, he set up his own practice.

As Rechtsanwalt (attorney-at-law / lawyer) Dr. Waltemathe is allowed to appear before all German courts (except the civil law senates of the Federal Court of Justice), and also before the General Court of the EU and the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

He primarily acts for clients in IP and competition disputes, but also has thorough expertise and long standing experience in managing global IP protection portfolios for rights holders.  He has extensive contentious experience in Germany and has litigated in the civil courts of, amongst others, Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, Mannheim, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Berlin, as well as the Federal Patent Court, and has also been involved in numerous proceedings in the EU Intellectual Property Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office.

He has successfully completed an additional professional training in Intellectual Property law and holds since 2008 the official title ‚Certified Intellectual Property Lawyer‘. This title is only awarded by the Bar Association if extensive practical experience and theoretic knowledge in the field of trademark, patent, copyright, design and unfair competition law has been proven.
